ORing Brings More Flexible and Higher-performance Industrial Ethernet Switch for Power Substations

ORing Industrial Networking, a leading manufacturer of industrial networking solutions, has announced a robust industrial Ethernet switch featuring a high port density and outstanding flexibility for power substations. The RGS-P9160GCM series is compliant with IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 standards which prove its compliance with the EMC and communication requirements for network equipment used in power substations.

With a modular design, the RGS-P9160M1 and RGS-P9160M2 series houses 16 Ethernet ports in combo or fixed form factor and 1 modular slot to provide higher flexibility. The ability to support up to 20 100Mbps/1G fixed fiber ports ensures more long-haul transmission capability for widely dispersed power substation networks. As a result, the switch is a cost-effective solution between the core layer and the edge layer on the network.

The M1 series accepts a 1G module while the M2 series supports 1G or 10G with its fiber modules to future-proof your enterprise backbone for the high-bandwidth needs of tomorrow. The 10G performance in the aggregation layer is ideal for supporting bandwidth-hungry multimedia and video applications such as IP surveillance, enabling large amount of traffic such as IP surveillance images to travel across the network rapidly.

Other key features include support for ORing’s proprietary redundancy technologies such as O-Ring and O-Chain, a wide operating temperature (-40oC to 85oC for 1G SFP module and -20oC to 60oC for 10G SFP+ module), and an embedded backup unit device DBU-01 for easy backup operations. All settings of the switches can be stored or restored to previous conditions within seconds via the console port, significantly simplifying the configuration of large network layouts.
